5005 aluminium coil can be cut to size at customers’ need. Mg is the principal element in the 5005 aluminium coil and when it used as main alloying element or combined with Mn, high strength and no-heat treatable properties can be realized. 5005 aluminium coil of Mingtai Al. has many tempers available, such as 5005-H12, 5005-H14, 5005-H16, 5005-H18,5005-H22, 5005-H24, 5005-H32, 5005-H34, 5005-H36, 5005-H38, etc.

Aluminium alloy 5005 contains nominally 0.8% magnesium. It has medium strength, good weldability, and good corrosion resistance in marine atmospheres. It also has the low density and excellent thermal conductivity common to all aluminium alloys. It is the most commonly used grade of aluminium in coil and coil form.

Aluminium alloy 5005 is a lean aluminium magnesium alloy which can be hardened by cold work: it is not heat treatable to higher strength.

General Features

5005 is a non-heat treatable alloy with magnesium content. It can be strengthened (hardened) by cold working. It scores well in weld-ability, formability, and corrosion resistance (especially when anodized).

Forming

5005 has excellent formability, especially in softer tempers.

Welding

5005 alloy is noted for excellent welding characteristics. When 5005 material will be welded and then anodized

Machining

5005 machinability is generally fairly poor . Soft 5005 tempers machine worse than harder tempers. 5005 H34 and 5005 H38 can be machined, but with much more difficulty than many other aluminium alloys.

Applications for 5005 aluminum alloy coil

The main content of 5005 aluminium coil is Fe, Mg and Si, thus, it has good weld-ability and resistance to correction (especially when anodized), which resulting in suitable for marine applications. 5005 aluminium coil is also a non-heat treatable alloy and it can be strengthened (hardened) by cold working. However, hot working should not normally be necessary. Besides, it scores well in formability, especially in softer tempers. The machinability of 5005 aluminium coil is generally fairly poor. 5005-H34 and 5003-H38 can be machined, but with much more difficult than many other aluminium alloys.
